Lovingly dedicated to the memory of my Dear Mom

Hi, glad you stopped by!
I'm in my garden of memories...
dreaming back to the days of
when I was a little girl.
~~~~
We always sat on the ol' green bench with Mom
and she would tell stories of her childhood.
I always loved to hear those stories!
~~~~
It seems as if it was only yesterday,
Now here I am, remembering....
Looking back into my treasure chest.
I have some very fond and some
very funny memories.
Maybe during this particular incident,
my Mom did not think it quite so funny.
~~~~
My big brother, me, my sister
and my lil brother decided-
Let's bake a chocolate cake!
Mom was out shopping
Dad was in charge.
~~~~
I don't remember how we got to
sneak away to make this cake.
It was going to be a great surprise!
It seemed like a good idea, I guess it was!
But...never..ever put a whole can
of chocolate baking cocoa
and lotsa flour in your cake!
~~~~
Well it was a job mixing....
and adding and mixing ...and..
we tried all different size bowls and spoons.
It never got to the oven..
Needless to say.....Oh! Oh!..
What a big, big mess! Oh my!
Everyplace in the kitchen was chocolate!
Boy, a big mess happens soooo fast!
We never made a chocolate
cake like that again! NEVER, EVER!
~~~~
WOW, was Mom ever surprised
when she came home to the mess!
We were trying so hard
to clean up those dirty bowls
and the messy, messy kitchen
before she came home!
Oh! Oh!
I think Daddy got in big trouble too! LOL.

Thank You Mom, for all your love!

~To a Butterfly~
I've watched you now a full half-hour,
Self-poised upon that yellow flower;
And, little Butterfly! indeed
I know not if you sleep or feed.
How motionless!--not frozen seas
More motionless! and then
What joy awaits you, when the breeze
Hath found you out among the trees,
And calls you forth again!

This plot of orchard-ground is ours;
My trees they are, my sister's flowers;
Here rest your wings when they are weary;
Here lodge as in a sanctuary!
Come often to us, fear no wrong;
Sit near us on the bough!
We'll talk of sunshine and of song,
And summer days, when we were young;
Sweet childish days, that were as long
As twenty days are now.
~by William Wordsworth (1770-1850)
A mother is the truest friend we have,
when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us;
when adversity takes the place of prosperity;
when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine,
desert us when troubles thicken around us,
still will she cling to us,
and endeavor by her kind precepts
and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness,
and cause peace to return to our hearts.
~Washington Irving (1783-1859)~
~This is a beautiful prayer from my childhood~
~Lovely Lady Dressed in Blue~
Lovely Lady dressed in blue,
Teach me how to pray!
God was just your little boy,
Tell me what to say!
Did you lift Him up, sometimes..
Gently, on your knee?
Did you sing to Him the way
Mother does to me?
Did you hold His hand at night?
Did you ever try
Telling stories of the world?
Oh! And did He cry!
Do you really think He cares
If I tell Him things..
Little things that happen? And..
Do the Angels' wings
Make a noise? And can He hear
Me if I speak low?
Does He understand me now?
Tell me..for you know.
Lovely Lady dressed in blue -
Teach me how to pray!
God was just your little boy,
And you know the way.
